At CIBC in KALRO Muguga, we focus mainly on biological control of pests and diseases. I am currently involved in the upscaling of the use of Trichogramma species in controlling FAW by targeting the eggs. This study aims at simplifying the process of rearing Trichogramma to a method that can be easily adopted by farmers at the farm level and not depend on governments and non-governmental organizations. THhis project is a collaboration between CABI and KALRO I am also part of a team currently assessing the efficacy of Eiphosoma spp, which is indigenous in Bolivia but new in Kenya, against FAW and the African Army Worm (Spodoptera exempta) currently being done in quarantine as we anticipate permission for release once it is determined to be safe.
