Cultural and agroecological interventions need to collaborate with other compatible pest management approaches for successful #fallarmyworm management?
For the successful #fallarmyworm management in maize crop, various intervention approaches should be adopted in integrated ways. Adopting a single pest management approach may not be able to keep the pest below the economic threshold level. Hence the integration of various approaches at a time or on a regular basis is suggested for the successful pest control in general and #FAW in a particular. For example, various agroecological pest management interventions (such as intercropping, trap cropping, cover cropping, maintaining flower habitats in and off-farms, push-pull strategy etc) can be integrated with other pest management approaches such as resistant breeding, biological control and soft chemicals to get the desired level of pest management. Hence extension workers and researchers should focus to motivate farmers towards integrated agroecological interventions along with other compatible approaches. Appreciate for the experiences sharing and suggestion on the topic. #fallarmyworm
