African and Asian agriculture for 2021 focus, options for managing fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) in maize and sorghum
Host plant resistance (HPR) provides a foundation of IPM for safe and efficient management of FAW.
In this African and Asian agriculture for 2021 focus, options for managing fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) in maize and sorghum are discussed by experts in the field Richard E. Goodman and Joseph E. Huesing

I agree with Rick on this one. “GM maize provides the safest and effective means of controlling FAW”. GM maize providing resistance to FAW has been exemplified in the Americas, South Africa, Vietnam and the Philippines. “Getting people to understand the common notion of food safety” (including that of GM crops) is the crux of the matter. A (practical) understanding of this will enable governments to invest in GM technology to control #FAW and other governments to lift bans imposed on GM. Thanks for sharing Anne.
Thank you too Bett for your insights. Looking forward to hear the different approaches Australia will use to manage the pest!
