Spraying sugar solution in maize field attract natural enemies and increase parasitism on fall armyworm.

Cultural method of pest control make a less favourable environment to the pest and make a more favourable for their natural enemies. This method is the most widely adopted approaches in integrated pest management. As a part of cultural control, spraying sugar solution (10-20%) increases the population of certain parasitoids such as Campoletis flavicincta (Hymenoptera:Ichneumonidae), Winthemia trinitatis and Exorista sp. (Diptera:Tachinidae) and increase the parasitism on #fallarmyworm but doesn’t reduce the pest population. This limited finding should require further investigation and should trial as an alternative to chemical pesticides.
