Dr Matova, I have talked to Dr Niassy from ICIPE on your query. He advised that for Climate smart Push-Pull we use Brachiaria brizantha cv Mulato II. For Conventional Push-Pull works with Napier grass, Pennisetum. Incase you need to discuss more, we can link you up. Dr Niassy will soon be on FAW Research Collaboration Portal.
Dr MaryLucy – Thanks a lot for your response. I understand Brachiaria brizantha is the widely used and improved Brachiaria in Brazil, Columbia and Australia, native to Africa. I recently saw a video show casing how B. brizantha is helping livestock farmers in Kenya, it also supports your response that it is the most used spps for ‘climate smart Push-Pull technology’. Thanks Ma’am.
